Kadamfula Nayak, wife of Pastor Samuel, is a survivor of the 2008 Kandhamal violence marked by extraordinary courage and loss. Pastor Samuel was brutally murdered after refusing forced conversion, choosing prayer and forgiveness in the face of armed attackers. Kadamfula narrowly escaped death despite an attempt to burn her alive, bearing scars that remain visible. Widowed and threatened, she pursued a long legal struggle for justice, even relocating to a slum in Bhubaneswar with other widows before returning to her village. Poverty and ill health persist, yet her resolve endures. Like many women in Kandhamal, she continues to fight for justice amid systemic failure and impunity.
